Kids say the darndest things

I forgot to mention this story from yesterday:

So it's like 3:40 and I am at the check-out shelter, out in front regulating the movement of all these little kids looking to dart out into traffic. This Dad (really nice, great guy, someone I could already feel like I'm friends with and I've met him for like 30 seconds), comes out of the shelter and asks his twins, who were in my tribe, if their ready to go. They said "yes" and then I interjected in a little-kid goofy voice, "Nnnnooooo, that's now what you were saying to me a minute ago. You said you wanted to spend the night here." So the Dad plays along, like the cool guy he is, and was all like, well alright then, just be sure to sleep under the shelter nad blah blah blah ... him and I joked around with the kids for a few minutes in this manner before the three of them start to leave. As they leave the boy was like, "I want to sleep by the totem pole" and then the girl hollers out ... mind you they were about 10-12 feet away with their backs to me walking to the car ... the girl hollers out, "I WANT TO SLEEP WITH JIM" seriously at the top of her lungs.

How do you respond to that? The Dad, who had been so smooth and cool, went silent and was like "uuuuummmm" and then said something about "I don't think so", and I didn't want them to walk away with that lingering over everything, so in an effort to joke with the Dad, I yelled out, "I definitely don't think that's a good idea" and he responded "Definitely not" ... and really, it made me feel no better at all as we both attempted to be kind of humorous, but failed as we knew what the implication of her statement was ... *insert Michael Jackson Joke* ....

So yeah, apparently I have first graders wanting to sleep with me. It was so innocent and harmless and yet, even in context, so wrong it makes me sad.

But really, what she said was hilarious all things considered and I hope u all enjoyed a chuckle from this story.
