Amazing Thursday

Thursday at camp Wa-Nik-Ska-Ka is a day that shall go down in lore for Jim...(along with many other days at Camp!).

First, the town finally got some freaking rain! It wasn't much, but it was enough to wet the pavement for the trip to work and to force all the tribes to meet in the three shelters rather than the normal meeting areas.

Unfortunately (or was it?) the rain didn't cool the weather down much and because of the heat we were forced to change the schedule dramatically ... again.

Due to this change and much to the chagrin of just about everyone else, my day was amazing.

8:45-11:45 (all three morning periods) David, Theresa, Kelly, Chris, Ashley, Tiffany, Sherrie and myself were assigned to pool duty (other counselors joined as their activities became too hot too do). Pretty much this meant the first hour I played a rousing game of keep away with David and Ashley against a bunch of campers. AWESOME! The next hour I sat in a chair pool side and chatted with Kelly and the other counselors. AWESOME! The final hour I jumped in and played some more keep away with David. AWESOME!

I had lunch ... a hot dog from the grill.

We then had Pow-Wow where we played Look, Speak, Draw ... had a little nap time ... and joined in a huge game of 007 (sort of like Dodgeball) for the last five min.

Then watched the first hour of Air Bud. Actually, I watched the first 20 minutes and then put three chairs together, sprawled out and napped.

Finally, spent about 45 with Kyle Lawton, Walter, Kelly and Aaron Gross chilling on a blanket under the shade having a blast. We ripped into Kyle pretty good and had plenty of laughs.

So pretty much by day was amazing as I was paid to play in the pool, get a nice tan in the pool, eat grilled dogs, watch Air Bud and Nap.

So sweet.

P.S. Being a counselor is not that cushy and I come home exhausted like everyday ... but sometimes we get days like these and they are amazing!
