Heather Should Be Committed

This is late, but here the big stories from Friday July 1st:

--Sand Volleyball is for girls: Some punk kid wasn't happy that for games we playes sand volleyball. Pretty much he was scared of being terrible 'cause he'd never really played the game ... turns out he was one of the best campers playing. What an over-athletic little snot. Oh, and when and Dana and I challenged the 12 campers first period to a game of volleyball I am pretty sure we both saw images of domination. Turns out that can be a lot of running, and when there's a swirling vortex of wind above u're side making serving terribly impossible, domination is hard to come by. We didn't challenge any group to play campers vs. counselors again. Very bad idea!

--Kenny Metroff: Kenny Metroff, probably the greatest camp counselor ever (and I never even worked with him!) stopped by on his day off from the Shakespeare festival to take a little BP at the softball game. Good times ...

--The Totem Pole Home Run -- Even though I can't hit the broad side of a barn in any game, we played Longest Hit with the softballers in the afternoon (four chances to hit it as long as you can, farthes hit wins) with a plastic "Bam Bam" bat and a tennis ball ... I definitely nearly hit the Tiki hut at mini-golf (first goal) and then I called the Totem Pole (way the hell out there for any counselor, let alone my skinny butt) ... I hit a shot that landed on the sidewalk like many 2 feet from the pole. It was awesome, but kind of bittersweet 'cause I was soooo close to actually hitting the pole and I even called the shot like the babe!!!!

--Heather's a PSYCHO -- I always knew that my fellow softball counselor Heather was a little, well, WEIRD, but I didn't know how weird until Friday. So it's second sessiona nd she is batting for her longest hit. It's about her third pitch or something and I crouch down to deliver the pitch. She digs in and gets all serious like, puts the bat back and gets ready for the pithc like always. Out of nowhere and I mean literally nowhere she threw the bat in the air about 25 feet (no exaggeration), jumped from the right handed batter's box to the left and and then kept going left and began rolling around in the grass as she hollered and grabbed at her hair. No amount of writing could do it justice and it may have been the funniest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. She went ape-s***! OMG, like spazzed out like no one I have ever seen! Haha, I think she should be committed. None of the kids really even laughed. They were all freaked out or something. Seriously, I was on the ground rolling with laughter and they all stared with open mouths and didn't move. I don't even think they know what happened! That was almost as funny as Heather's freak out! (Bless her heart, she had a bug in her hair and went berserk because Heather does not do real well with bugs)...

Oh man, I will never forget Heather's flip out while batting ... best ever. Too bad I was the only present...*tear*
