YAY!

SO...thursdays and fridays are different than the rest of the week...campers are more self sufficient, you take on the more big bro/sister role as opposed to parent, and you can most definitely peg kids with dodgeballs and not feel so bad about it. However, along with the growing in size and well... motor skills and ability to walk straight (you saw the 4th of july parade...the monday kids really can't do it...) SO does the attitude (as you gathered from my post last friday). Another day today of the ridiculous girls talking about who knows what...and i have decided that they are most definitely "the plastics" from mean girls, ha! Like i said before, no pleases, no thank yous...just rudeness, most of the time. But as frustrated as i get sometimes, there are the one or two that are absolutely amazingly special that make it all worthwhile.
Yesterday one of my campers signed up for creative arts and we were making cards using different artsy techniques (yay pointilism!) But at the end, she walked up to me, handed me her paper, and walked away. On the outside it said, "to kimberly, love taylor"..."ps, you are the best counselor". I opened it, and there was a picture of a teddy bear, with the caption, "I love you beary much!"...I cried, because despite how frustrating the job may be (actually, ALL of my thursdays are amazing, its the fridays that get me, but you get the point)...that there is that one special girl that i have somehow affected in some way that does a little something to make the day that much better. SO awesome. YAY! just thinking about the affect we have on these kids...
