I love you - from Danielle

Today for PowWow, we had our tribe make beaded necklaces and such out of the huge buckets of beads. Kids stay entertained with that for the strangest amounts of time, let me tell ya!

One of my campers, Danielle, finished hers before the others because she only made a bracelet. So, I gave her another string and told her to make another one.

She searched and searched for letter after letter having her fellow "tribemates" help her. Meanwhile, I was busy finding blue letters to spell "I love Jason" on an anklet.

When she was done, I asked her if she needed help tying it. She shook her head "no" and hid the creation behind her back. I really didn't think anything of it as it was normal behavior for a camper.

Everyone was pretty much done at that point and off playing with the parachute with another tribe. So, I began picking up the stray beads that had, inevitably, been thrown here and there from the bucket during various searches for the coveted little pieces of plastic.

When I headed back towards my mug, to get a drink, I saw Danielle dart off across the shelter. This, too, being normal behavior for campers, I still didn't think anything of it until I looked at the top of my mug.

Curled neatly inside the plastic ring on the lid of my mug was a strand of beads that read "I love you from Danielle." I melted.

When Danielle came back over to the end of the shelter where I was sitting, I asked her if she made it for me. She turned towards me with this adorable look on her face and shook her head "yes."

Can I just say ... I love day camp. :)
